    Ideas:

        - Create the style of the artist

        - Follow the theme of the music videos - maintain the artists current brand identity 

        - Use modern style bright shapes and colours 

        - Could also follow a modern minimalist style

Poster development:

    - I used procreate to draw onto the images 

    - The photos are from photoshoots of the artist 

    - They frame the artist as the centre 

    - The final images used present the artists sweetness as well as following the theme of the music video and the current artist persona 

Final Products:

ALBUMS/MUSIC

    Ideas:

        - Follow the persona of the artist - similar music 

        - Albums or singles - need to follow the persona of an upcoming artist 

        - Centre the artist as the focus 

Album development:

    - Used procreate to add text to the images

    - the images used aim to create the persona of the artist as intimate, sweet and nostalgic.

    - Each album follows the design method of having the name of the artist and the Sony Music logo being the same colour - follow a theme and a design 

    - Each cover has the Sony Music logo 

Final Products:

    - All products show the full vinyl when mouse hovers over them 

How will I show the products on the website:

    - Links to the shop throughout the page - through buttons and sunflowers

    - Shown in a reel format 

    - Include links for discounts - add to audience interaction

 

Intertextual references within the video

The intertextual references allow for value transference of messages between texts. 

Presents the artist as culturally relevant and knowledgeable

Allows for audience enjoyment when spotting these references 

 - Risky Business 
    - A fun and uplifting scene in the film 
    - reflects the young adult freedom as well as reflecting images of the actor in the film, Tom Cruise, onto the actor in the video  

Dance scene

- Ferris Beulers Day Off

    - Arguably the pinnacle of coming-of-age films 

    - Connotes cheeky, freedom 

    - The opening sequence in Ferris Beulers referenced 

    - The art gallery scene - adds depth to the film looking at human significance so value transference can reflect this onto the music video

    - Opening the door

    - Connotes the feeling of the film as wholesome and loving. 

    - At the moment the mother opens the door she is filling her son with confidence and excitement so audiences could see this link

- Books

    - I included the book, High Fidelity, for its value transference 

    - The story follows a record store owner retracing his past loves 

   

    - Including this as intertextuality connotes the message of finding joy and peace in yourself as well as          passion and enjoyment in music. 

            - Including a book also acts as a way to present the artist as culturally knowledgeable and                              interested 

     - The book was adapted in to a film in the 1990's and a TV series in 2020 in which the gender roles               were switched 

            - This again allows for the artist to look culturally relevant and current, interested and                                  supportive of modern, creative media 

- Music 

    - The artists own music taste is shown - Khalid, Joni Mitchell - acting as value transference

Joni mitchell - The Hissing of Summer Lawns album 

    Reflects love and serenity Joni Mitchell sings about

    The title refers to the sound of sprinklers set off on lawns in the summertime - reflects the ideas of summer and fresh, bright days

Khalid - Merchandise from the free spirit tour 

    A younger artist, popular with a 16-25 demographic and therefore fits into the demographics cultural competency

    The words 'free spirit' also act as value transference of the artist as a free spirit themselves

Cross platform convergence and brand identity

 How will I keep a consistent brand identity across media products?

• Title cards
• Fonts and texts used 
• A consistent feel of a bright, sunshine summer
• A logo  
• A signature - seal of approval

- Clear and consistent logo and colour scheme - The sun and the bright colours clearly follow the branding of the artist as bright and lively.

- The font can be used on multiple products

- A signature can act as a mark of quality as seal of approval from the artist as to the quality of their work.

- Need to clearly state the record label the artist is signed too 

- To add another link between the music video and the website I will experiment with different graphics. The sunflower is a large feature of the music video and a graphic of it can be used as easter eggs on the website. 

Album Cover Experimentation

All the possible album covers below were created on the software Procreate 

- I wanted to experiment with colour through the use of sunshine yellows and oranges 

- I experimented with the line between the cover being drawn and more 'free' compared to more formal 

- The cover needed to be clear and visible 

    - The title should be clear

    - The artist should be clearly visible 

- Looking at other Sony produced album covers, the Sony logo/brand name can be visible
